Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered numerous interesting creations from small studios. But, one stands out for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a protagonist that is truly a dung trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty stages, you'll face boss fights and visit a shop to buy outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps precisely, since one mistake requires starting over. Leap on bubbles to hurl the poop higher, traverse disappearing platforms, and interact with triggers to open new areas. Collect currency and use them on challenging game content in which the action gets crazy.

In terms of design, the game features eye-catching level designs and a killer music score. Its minimalist visual style featuring morphing abstract forms evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to think of similar titles where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, such content appears a lot in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive recognition, including winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the complete version set to arrive on computers on November 19.
