Three people have been killed and no fewer than nine people sustained injuries in Ukraine's latest attack on the Russian frontier area of Belgorod, according to its governor.

The fatalities occurred following a strike on the village of Maslova Pristan early on Wednesday, sources confirmed. Emergency workers were persisting in looking for people feared trapped under rubble.

It is the third consecutive day that Ukrainian forces have attacked the territory, leaving thousands of people lacking electricity and a minimum of two more persons dead.

Multiple Strikes Cause Damage

Wednesday's series of missile and drone strikes harmed houses, transportation and energy systems in numerous regions of Belgorod, per information from official statements.

Officials released photographs from Maslova Pristan depicting a sports centre with its building components blown apart, and said that rescue workers were removing wreckage and evaluating the destruction.

In the close-by settlement of Moshchenoye, six people - comprising a minor - sustained injuries when missile and drone targeted transportation, while a person got injured when a car was hit in Masychevo.

Electrical Failures Hit Many

These attacks come after multiple days of identical assaults that have caused blackouts and building harm in urban Belgorod and nearby regions.

Approximately forty thousand people were affected by power cuts across multiple districts, per information from official statements.

Wider Situation of Hostilities

Ukraine has dramatically increased the number of attacks directed at Russia's fuel processing facilities in the past few months, causing petroleum deficits and cost increases in various areas of Russia.

At least 21 of the country's primary processing facilities - at locations transforming oil into functional petroleum products like automotive fuels - have been hit since January, significantly more than as during the whole of 2024.

Persistent Warfare

Meanwhile, hostile actions by Russia toward Ukraine are persisting. The country's military aviation said on Wednesday its defences shot down or took out 154 aerial vehicles, but 22 struck targets in 11 locations.

Remnants of downed aircraft ignited flames and harm to public facilities.

A minimum of five persons were dead in the past days when Russia sent over 50 ballistic missiles and around 500 drones into multiple Ukrainian territories.

Energy Infrastructure Facing Danger

The leader of Ukraine states Russia is once more attacking the country's power systems before the cold season and has announced new funding to fix harmed structures and develop a backup supply of components to reestablish energy.

"Regardless of numerous difficulties, we must support the areas presently experiencing the hardest times," he stated.
