From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
