Alarming Footage Shows Point Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Policeman knifed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashcam video released by the police department depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.
He ran into the officer who tripped and went down to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an end.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need help on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sgt Ansell sustained two lacerations to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.
The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's blood loss prior to medical personnel reached the scene.
This most recent honor arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in early 2024.
They further earned a Area Valor Recognition in mid-2024.
"The responses of all three officers ultimately rescued each other and ensured no civilians endured any harm."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by the department.
